Most of you know may know the name Tracey Lee, a thriving rapper who got his start years back when he was signed to Universal Music. He released his debut album “Many Facez“, and thanks to the hit “The Theme (It’s Party Time)” he was able to achieve a nice level of success. He was even on a record with the late Notorious B.I.G which was featured on his debut album. After a tumultuous journey in the record industry, he decided to put his bad experiences to good use and joined law school.
Lee admits that his biggest mistake was not paying attention to the business aspect of the industry. BEing excited about having the opportunity to expose his music to the world, work BEcame his focus and unfortunately people took advantage of it. Passing the bar in 2007, he made his focus Entertainment law. He hoped to prevent other artists from dealing with some of the unfortunate things that happen within the industry.”I’m an advocate for the artists, and I want to provide them with the information and legal support that I lacked when I signed my deal.”
Music always a first love of Tracey’s, he never stopped writing and recording. While practicing his Law, he has BEen in the studio working on his new album. Slated for a June release, the new album ESQ features his single “It’s about time”. Along with his lovely wife Lori Nelson Lee, they decided to merge companies; Tray Lee Inc. (music), CharmCiti Entertainment (film), and Nelson Publishing (books) to form LLeft Entertainment. Their motto is “Whenever mainstream goes right, we go LLEFT!” LLeft Entertainment is an independent entertainment company that film production, Web television, book publishing, and music services, as well as legal services .
His advice to any up and comers is “Do what you love, but BE smart while doing it. Always know what you’re getting yourself into.”
