Over the weekend, myself & our Style Editor Maurice “M.Jai” Lawyer were asked to sit on a panel at the Art Institute of Atlanta for their Fashion Forward event, explaining the perks and BEnefits of a career in fashion.
Other panelists included Braylon Gorman (AIA Fashion Educator, Fashion Insider, LA Fashion Week Correspondent & Production Coordinator), Penny Wells (Founder of Penny Wells & Company), Melissa Godrey-Reynolds (AIA Alum & Luxury Good Specialist), Asley Reed (AIA Alum & Macy’s Corporate Account Coordinator), Ashley Troupe (Assistant Buyer K&G Fashions), Vanne McMillian (Fashion Artist), & The Elite Petite (Entertainment/Fashion Personality).
Students got an up close & personal account of each panelists journey into our prospective worlds of fashion & asked very engaging questions about the possibilities of their paths. It was enlightening to see so many young (and seasoned) students with such a passion for fashion. as much as they learned from us, I tried to equal that with knowledge about them and their upcoming ventures.
It was humbling to sit on such an esteemed panel of industry experts, from buyers to stylists & everything in BEtween. We made some very powerful connections that I’m confident will BE long lasting and very fruitful.
THANK YOU AIA & Braylon for thinking of BE Magazine’s staff to BE a part of this amazing event.
