#Artist2Watch: Kevyn “Uptown” Hunter


The rapper and writer known as Uptown Hunter was born in Washington, DC. Growing up in the nation’s capital has not been easy but,  remaining focused on his talents, Uptown Hunter has this to say “Hope of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel through music is my goal”. Uptown Hunter displays a versatile form of word play that does not go unrecognized. As an artist, his passion for music started at a very young age when he was inspired by two of hip hop’s most respected artist, the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.

After starting his music career in the early part of 2006, Uptown Hunter quickly established his name at an open mic show at Tacoma Station, a restaurant and popular performance venue in his community of Northwest Washington, DC . Spectators and fans immediately loved him and the unique connection he generated.  His performances are called electrifying, captivating and always full of energy. With the delivery of his uniquely formulated, eyebrow raising lyrics, punch lines and concepts, Uptown Hunter is sure to rock the crowd once he starts to spit into the mic.

Since completing his first album “Time for a Change” in February 2011, Uptown Hunter continues writing and performing in his hometown of Northwest Washington,DC as well as meeting with local radio stations in the Baltimore area for radio airplay and more recognition. In 2013 he released his new mixtape “Self Promotion Vol. 3”.  Despite his busy schedule Uptown Hunter still makes time to reach out to his internet fan base via Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and numerous music websites.
