Author Ebonee Monique Will Have You In a Blitz

Growing up, Black Expressions author Ebonee Monique enjoyed the works of Sheneska Jackson, Pearl Cleage, Terry McMillian and Bebe Moore Campbell. Today, the tables have turned as she is now someone’s favorite author.
This summer Ebonee Monique released her third novel, “Blitz”, through Peace in the Storm Publishing. “Blitz” will take audiences on a journey while dealing with topics like teen pregnancy, domestic violence and surrogacy. The Florida A&M University (FAMU) alum’s contemporary fiction novel is about Mia Robinson a former victim of domestic abuse who, along with her daughter, Brandi, escaped the harsh hands of her ex-husband. Her flight to freedom brings her to Tampa, Florida where she meets the city’s biggest real estate mogul and convinces him to show her the ropes. Soon, Mia learns that she’s found her niche. She’s gifted at what she does and soon her talent allows her to start Robinson Realty. With over seven-figures in her bank account and far away from her past life of struggle and hurt, Mia and her daughter are beyond comfortable and perfectly happy with life-until a snowball of events begin to happen: Brandi gets pregnant, Mia’s violent ex-husband returns and Mia’s long-time boyfriend Charles ends their relationship after a jaw-dropping ultimatum.

Blitz is filled with family drama and the ultimate lesson about sacrifice. Ebonee Monique wants readers to see that family can best be defined as a group of people who love and support each other through life’s unexpected storms.

Ebonee Monique, herself, knows about unexpected storms. Her first novel, Suicide Diaries was inspired by the loss of her first-love to suicide. All her novels are laced with a touch of something she personally has encountered or witnessed in her life. Usually the pain and emotion from a personal experience are transferred from her heart to the lives of her characters.

In 2009, Ebonee Monique was nominated as ‘Break Out Author of the Year’ by the African American Literary Awards (AALAS) for Suicide Diaries. Life’s tough experiences have taught the author how to push through the obstacles and pursue dreams in spite of pain, abandonment or persecution.

In 2011, Ebonee Monique’s book “Blitz” was listed as one of the Top books of 2011 by Conversation’s Book Club, became a Black Expressions author and filmed a motion-picture trailer to accompany her newest release. {View the trailer for “Blitz” BElow:
