BE Magazine was able to catch up with a couple members of the Block Entertainment family and see what they’ve BEen up to.
For quite some time, ‘Big Block” of Block ENT and president of Bad Boy South has be running the game as one of hip hop’s more smarter CEOs. He helped start the careers of Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Yung Joc, Ciara, Gorilla Zoe and more. He was able to inform us on what process he goes through when deciding on who to sign as well as the right time to sign these people and what new projects he’s working on.
He signed the BEautiful Jamaican Pop singer, Kris Kelli to Block Entertainment and she’s been doing her thing ever since. She has a hot single entitled “Me & You” with Gorilla Zoe which pays homage to Method Man and Mary J. Blige ‘s old school single, “All I Need”. At a private location, we were able to sit behind the scenes and understand what is needed to have a successful photoshoot. After dropping her mixtape “Sell Off”, she is working on some new material that she plans to drop soon.
Along with signing Kris Kelli, Block was able to get hold of young talent by the name of Chip. He is a solo artist but also apart of the hip hop group, Rebel Gang. We get to catch up on him and see how the formation of the group came together. Being young in the music industry, he explains how he’s able to balance out his social and music life all together. Chip also went into detail about how important it was to keep up with his grades and to always follow your dreams no matter what people say.
Overall, the entire sit in was an educational experience. From learning about the business side of the Entertainment world to understanding time management, they BElieve they are ready to “rebuild hip hop block by block”.
