Over the weekend, hundreds of guests gathered at Atlanta’s Mariott Marquis to support The Gentlemen’s Foundation for their 5th Annual Gentlemen’s Ball, which took guests on a journey back to the roaring 20’s with a Harlem Renaissance theme that had guests dressed to the 9’s.
Realty TV royalty Miss Lawrence served as co-host of this year’s gala, while Mimi Faust, Ariane Davis, Milan Christopher, and Carlos King ccelebrated the deserving honorees & award recipents. R&B Diva Monifah closed the event out performing a few songs includng her big 90’s hit “Touch It“, which of course brought the crowd to the floor to shake their well dressed shimmies & tail feathers.
This year’s Ball was nothing shy of EXCELLENT! The black tie fundraiser seemed to take on a new face, doing it BIGGER than ever, adding fun effects like poker tables, funny hosts, scenes from social advocate Larry Walker’s well received stage play The Dingalogues, & an amazing live band to keep us entertained during the elegant 3 course dinner (with every tabled decked out with SWAG Bags and swank signature bottles of wine).
We’ve BEen supporting TGF creators/ husbands Juan & Gee Smalls since the Gentlemen’s Ball was just an idea waiting to BE birthed, so to see it grow to something that impacts the entire LGBT community, is more than inspiring. They could’ve made this event about a party, fashion, social status, or any other entity that they saw fit, but that’s never BEen the case; they’ve always remained true to their purpose & their passion, which is to help the community that’s embraced them as leaders. Kudos friends…job well done!!
