Breathe In Couture BEnefit Fashion Show

The joy brought forth from touching the lives of others is a true spiritual process that only a person who is Awake can understand. We are all here to serve a purpose and it takes many years and thousands of hours soul searching to come to reach this place of enlightenment. Over the past few months, BEStyle had to pleasure of BEing introduced to Jerry Catchings, one who is very Awake. Jerry understands that we are not in this world alone and our journey is not one of a selfish act but of many acts of inclusion that reaches across the isle to help our fellow man.

Jerry, although young in age, has come to the realization that he’s blessed with talents and abilities to impact the lives of many. For this reason, he created and is producing Breathe In Couture, a BEnefit Fashion Show to BE held in Atlanta, GA.

Here’s our moment with Jerry:

BE: What is your mission / purpose for “BIC”?
JC: My purpose for BIC is to help raise awareness and education on the epidemic that HPV/Anal Cancer has made on your community.

BE: How did you get involved in the world of fashion?
JC: I’ve always had a flare for the Fashion and Modeling industry. I did my 1st fashion show in 2011 when I was in Atlanta Fashion Week.

BE: How often are you planning to host the event?
JC: My goal is to do annual events that will BE geared towards different causes.

BE: Are you really excited about your first show?
JC: I am graciously excited and blessed BEyond measures to have the support of people near and far.

BE: What can we expect to see from the designers?
JC: You can expect to see high in fashions – sexy, fun, and eye-catching.

BE: What made this diagnosis of cancer your focus?
JC: BEcause, I work in infectious disease care, one of the subspecialty clinics I work in is Anoscopy Clinic. Anoscopy is an outpatient procedure when biopsies are collected in the anal canal to test patients for possible cancerous cells.

HPV is a virus that is very common. In fact, most men and women are infected with HPV at some time in their lives.

There are more than 40 types of HPV that are passed on through sexual contact. These types can infect the genital areas of men, including the skin on and around the penis or anus. They can also infect the mouth and throat.

BE: Describe for our readers, how does this type of cancer affect the body?
JC: HPV/Anal cancer has no preliminary symptoms. One would have to get an Anal pap to get tested. Anal cancer affects the body to where one would have the side effects of soreness around the anus and groin, tiredness, bladder irritation.

BE: What are the statistics and who are more susceptible?
JC: In 2015, over +7,000 adults died from Anal cancer. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease, so everyone can be prone to this virus that’s not sexually protecting themselves.

BE: What are your goals for “BIC” ?
JC: My goal is to continually put on various shows annually that will BE based on entertainment, and education. I wish to put on Fashion shows, Dance performances, Stage plays, and more. BIC is greatness in the making.
