On November 5, The Center for Black Women’s Wellnessheld their 4th Annual Family Health & Beauty Expo at the TWELVE Hotel –Atlantic Station. Free to all, the expo consisted of health screenings for men and women including: diabetes, blood pressure, HIV, sickle cell, flu shots, BMI, cholesterol, height & weight and prostate cancer. Community vendors like Jamaican Mango Lime, Organic Root Stimulator, AAA and WellCare were also present to share information with attendees, however the show did not stop there.
Nicci Gilbert, lead singer of 90’s R&B group Brownstone commanded the stage as host for the day, introducing stage performances from KTX Fitness, a holistic health panel hosted by Twanda Black from KISS 104.1 FM, The Sugar Plums (poetry troupe), singer Kayla Nicole and natural diva Athena Renee. Kicking off the fashion segment was the GAP who dressed top natural hair bloggers in their premiere winter fashions for the Naturally Fierce Hair & Fashion Show hosted by Tress Talk. The highlight performance of the day came from singer/songwriter Zoey Clarke who performed tracks from her mixtape Runway Music, which set the stage for our Fashion Show featuring Fashion Uncorked, Curvato Clothing and The Wilbourn Sisters Designs. The day was filled with non-stop entertainment, health, fashion and beauty consults!
