Welcome Fashion Faithful Followers….  In the early 1900’s fashions shows were held here in the states as a means for retailers to lure females into their shops and introduce them to their vision of what is “fashion.” As time went on, these shows moved from being staged at lunch and teatime in shops and restaurants to the floors of major department stores, hotels and lofts. These were heavily themed events where major markets like NYC had to get license to have live models. Around 1994, after a structural incident at a show of one my personal favorite designers, Michael Kors, the shows were then organized and moved to the TENTS. Thus we have the highly coveted invitation only Fashion Week – held from Amsterdam to Berlin, Chicago to London, and Montreal to Milan, and now the small southern fashion Mecca of Charleston, SC is making its presence this ever growing industry.

BE-Style brings you coverage from the TENTS as Ayoka Lucas, Creative Director and Charleston Magazine celebrate the culmination of the 4th annual Charleston Fashion Week (CFW). The city was inundated with fashion professionals and insiders to applaud the efforts of those making a progressive move toward their passion and dreams. Just NYC was not the home of the first fashion shows, looking to Paris for inspiration, members of CFW have looked at other markets and now want everyone to know that fashion is alive and well in the southeast, get used it…
