Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the pre-screening for Final Destination 5, the last installment of the Final Destination saga. The pre-screening took place at the Regal Hollywood Cinemas 24 in Atlanta, Ga. In the building there were a few Musical Industry Execs as well as local celebrities. This event was hosted by Warners Bros. Pictures and Vibe Magazine.
For those of you who’ve enjoyed the last 5 Final Destination movies, than you will not be disappointed with the final installment. The storyline has been the same for all the movies. They open with a freaky death prominition, and somehow are able to escape destruction. The theme throughout all the sequels seems to be “You can’t cheat death”. However the lucky survivors have found a loop hole in the rules of life. The question is, can they outsmart death?
Overall I give this movie a 7 out of 10. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the original, the last few additions to the saga have not been my cup of tea. Every year the deaths become “freakier” and the acting becomes “weaker”. With the advancement of technology and special effects, the death are too graphic and bloody for my taste. Final Destination 5 is all about shock factor. Unless you are a die hard horror fan, save your money…but don’t take my word for it, check out the trailer BElow & you decide if you want to have a little brush with death this weekend as the movie hits theaters officially today.
