Everyone has some type of testimony and gospel artist Jacquie certainly has one of her own to share with the world.
Her single that was released last year “Have Church” and her newest single “Testimony” exhibit her unique spoken word and R&B style over gospel music.“I feel like [Testimony] is going to let people know who I am,” Jacquie said “I try to use the melody to speak the poetry in my songs so it’s not just the old school gospel but it’s got like an R&B flavor to my new music,” Jacquie said. “I think it brings a different energy to the gospel community.”The Arkansas native not only aspires to make music for those already saved but she hopes to capture the young people through her music.“Most young people don’t really go to church BEcause either the feel like they’re judged or they feel like they won’t understand,” Jacquie said.
Jacquie’s not just passionate about the spoken word—she also has a love for the music aspect as well. She writes all of her songs and has a hand in learning all of the music.“I have a good team that works with me to make sure that the product is at the goal I want and I’m proud of that,” Jacquie said. Jacquie has not only found success as a budding gospel artist. She also holds down a day job and owns two other businesses. She and a team provide IT services and train people in IT certifications and she also owns a cake business.“We make only designer cakes,” Jacquie said. “Chanel, Coach, Tiffany…we’ve BEen having clientele and it’s BEen doing very well.Jacquie was taught many things as a child but the main thing that she has always carried with her as an artist and as an entrepreneur is honesty and remaining true to self.
“The main thing my father always used to tell me was to remain true to self and to BE humble and to BE truthful but don’t let anyone restructure you,” Jacquie said. “I will never tell anyone that I’m the church girl that didn’t have any issues. That’s my testimony. I’m never going to tell anybody that they have to BE perfect. If you’ve got to BE perfect, then that’s the wrong person preaching to you BEcause nobody’s perfect.”
Jacquie’s ability to speak the word of God through her music has continued to keep her humble and release music for people all over the world to enjoy.“I don’t expect to BE perfect,” Jacquie said. “Don’t look for me to BE perfect but look for me to give you my testimony the way I can give it BEcause I’m not a preacher; I’m just a God-fearing woman and I’m just taking the words that are put in my heart and I’m giving them to you in song.”
Her debut album is due to release in June. Jacquie’s music is available on iTunes, Google, Amazon, and anywhere digital music is sold and she can BE reached for booking at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
