On SeptemBEr 7, 2012, Atlanta Fashion Incubator (AFi) celebrated Fashion’s Night Out 2012 in style with LABELatlanta 2012. Afi’s founder and CEO, Cynthia K. Johnson, wanted to fuse “FASHION, FOOD, PHILANTHROPY and SOCIAL MEDIA,” as “Afi’s avant-garde approach to putting Atlanta on the fashion map.” Her efforts proved to BE a success.
The exclusive rooftop event was hosted by the eloquent Alex Delotch Davis of the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs. Guests spent the evening participating in live choreographed tweeting, indulging in the delicious delicacies by Chef Taylor of Epicurean Drama, sipping on refreshing cocktails provided by STATUS Vodka, while BEing astounded by graceful models strutting in the spectacular designs of five of Atlanta’s up-and-coming designers.
In my one on one with Ms. Johnson, my new SHEro, she explains why she chose this type of approach for a fashion event:
The combination of fashion and food is popular now, I love gourmet food, and I’ve worked with Epicurean Drama Before. My inspiration came from a Chanel show that was done in Paris. It was a BEautiful Bombay theme. All of the Incubators around the world annually spotlight their local designers. I wanted to do something that was a combination: fashion, food and social media. It was great. I really enjoyed putting it together.
