“Making people feel beautiful from the inside out”
Stylist to the stars, Robert Ballew and winner of Creative Loafing’s 2012 BEst Hair Salon, Salon Skanda decided to team up with Bloomingdale’s Lenox Square for their first Meet & Mingle Fall Fashion Dress Event. In an effort to promote community involvement and support, Ballew explains that the decision was made to pull local Buckhead businesses that supported their vision of BEauty from the inside out, like: TruGlow Tanning, Ecobel Day Spa, Joy Café, Kashi Atlanta, and of course, Salon Skanda. These businesses were set up throughout the 3rd floor of Bloomingdale’s in the Dresses section.
The Fashion show highlighted dresses from Bloomingdale’s Fall collection, which included dresses from BCBG, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Teri Jon, Aqua, Tadashi Shoji, David Meister, ABS by Allen Schwartz, and Laundry by Shelli Segal. Ballew says that the idea was to showcase a wide range of styles and price points. I was very impressed with how he paired the various textures and colors. My favorite of the evening was how he turned “the little black dress” into “THAT little black dress”, by adding a colored BElt, bag or shoe to make it pop.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am very community and charity driven. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the most exciting part of the Meet & Mingle, for me, is that 10% of the day’s tracked sales went to charity. 5% will BEnefit the Rapunzel Project, which helps combat hair loss of cancer patients. The other 5% will support Kashi Atlanta’s effort to alleviate hunger among Atlanta’s homeless.
Congrats to Bloomingdale’s Lenox Square for a great event, and to Robert Ballew and Salon Skanda for an amazing job of “making people feel BEautiful from the inside out.”
