Hip Hop’s trendsetting megastar Missy Elliott gave one of Essence Music Festival’s most memorable performances on the 4th of July, opening for Usher Raymond. Without question, Missy brought the fireworks from the time she hit the stage, to the time she was forced off of it. From her unparalleled catalogue of hits like “One Minute Man”, “Hot Boy”, “Sock It to Me”, “Pass That Dutch”, & “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)”, to the high energy she brought on every song, Missy proved why she’s going to always BE top notch in the music game. At any given point you saw Missy entertaining the crowd, whether it was bussing a move with her amazing dancers (which included a solo set by the amazingly talented dancer/choreographer Kaelynn Harris), or jumping in the audience to turn all the way up! (Missy did actually hop up off the stage & stood in the chair directly next to me, BEfore parading thru the rest of the the Mercedes BEnz Superdome.
Elliott brought out her new artist Sharaya J to perform her song “BANJI”, along with singers Jazmine Sullivan & Monica.
Trust me…if you didn’t make #EssenceFest this year, you want to take the time to watch how Missy put it down.
