#NYFW15 | Kanye West’s SS’16 Is Very Homeless Chic

One media friend stated, “BEcause Kanye is rich and a celebrity, it gives him access.”

A fashion insider & friend wrote: “Kanye must have BEen inspired by The Walking Dead…this collection…ugh”

Even the Mother of All Fashion Reporters, Cathy Horyn, stated – “This second round of drab, broken-down basics proved he can’t be taken seriously as a designer, but nevertheless many people in fashion do seem to take West seriously — they keep showing up expectantly for his performances — and that makes them fools.” nymag.com

Kanye West is an amazing artist with very specific views and is respected as such. With that BEing said, I honestly don’t think the level of respect he garnered as an entertainer and producer has not transferred to his career as a fashion designer. Although, I must say, I love what he created in partnerships with Giuseppe Zanotti & Nike, but he might want to rethink his aspirations as a ready-to-wear designer. This past NYFW, he left us all in awe at what he delivered on the runway for his SS’16 collection. The collection looked like the cotton, silks, and latex were dyed and left to hang dry on a clothes line. I personally don’t understand his direction with the Yeezy brand. Is he hoping to create a Homeless Chic movement? Why do he think people want to walk around everyday in hoodies and spandex, unless he’s secretly designing for sports and active wear? I don’t know it’s just a mess.
