Atlanta Live on the Park (presented by Shanti Das & Marlon Nichols)once again lives up to its name. Offering an atmosphere for pure entertainment with the sounds of cheers and laughter filling the tent of Piedmont’s Park Tavern. This monthly music instillation can be summed up in one word, Live!
Attendees got to experience vocal expressions from LaTocha Scott (formerly of Xscape), Q Parker (formerly of 112) and new comer Marcus Canty. If you were to minus Marcus from the showcase, it would have BEen a blast from the past. Both LaTocha and Q refreshed our minds with the songs that made them who they are today. LaTocha tore the house down the minute she sat foot across the stage; for who doesn’t know a Xscape song, those are classics. However both LaTocha and Q failed to give us what we’ve been waiting for and that’s the goods, where is the new? I guess we just have to wait and follow their journeys.
Now lets factor Marcus Canty back into the equation. The Epic Records signee committed to making his presences known and it was appreciated. Marcus was a breathe of fresh air. He’s what I invision of who a Motown artist of the 60’s would sound in present date. The world need to keep their eye on this guy and hopefully he proves to still have that X Factor.
Other notable attendees included Roger Bobb (Bobbcat Films), Karlie Redd (LHHATL), Carl Anthony Payne II (Cole Brown from Martin), Egypt Sherrod (V103/HGTV), Pastor Troy, DJ Baby Yu, & DJ Trauma.
