Sweet Anthem Perfumes, a craft perfumery from Seattle, WA that creates bottled stories you can read on your skin, is delighted to announce their newest fragrance for Spring 2014: Lolita. Sweet Anthem is known best for its use of unusual fragrance notes in thoughtful, artfully crafted seasonal fragrance launches that are beloved and much-anticipated by its following. Sweet Anthem’s latest fragrance, Lolita, is a musky aldehydic floral wrapped in the lushness and desire of Vladimir Nabokov’s infamous novel of the same name.
“It’s actually quite surprising that we waited so long to release a Lolita inspired fragrance,” said perfumer Meredith Smith, Sweet Anthem’s nose, who has an uninhibited love for Russian literature. “It’s a gorgeous – if at times, heavy – novel with endless treatises on the fine lines between love and obsession. Lolita captures those moments of passion between the two spectrums. It’s the perfect backdrop for one of my bottled stories.”
The perfume itself is a sophisticated floral featuring modern aldehydes, juicy black currant, soft cherry blossom, and the golden honey-like notes of tonka bean softened by rosewood. It’s gained momentum among fans already, due in part to its inclusion in Sweet Anthem’s seasonal sample service The SA List. By subscribing to The SA List, fans and fragrance fiends get a first look at what’s coming from the perfumer.
Lolita is part of an anthology called Valentine for Vendetta, which also includes Poppy – a smoky gourmand oriental fragrance – and Alice, a long-beloved, timeless heady floral perfume from the indie perfumer’s extensive archive. All three fragrances will be available for pre-order February 1 and officially released February 13 at sweetanthemperfumes.com or at the perfumer’s studio in West Seattle.
