Alzheimer’s Disease is a terminal illness that affects more Americans then we hardly imagine. The harsh reality of the fatal disease came to the urban light through BET’s hit reality show Tiny & Toya, where Tameka “Tiny” Cottle showed the world an inside look at the disease through her father Charles Pope’s suffering.
The world later came to know that not only was Tameka personally affected, her then longtime boyfriend-and now husband Clifford “T.I.” Harris Jr. was also deeply affected by Alzheimer’s. T.I. lost his father Clifford “Buddy” Harris Sr. from complications due to the tragic disease. With both families deeply impacted from Alzheimer’s, it was only fitting that For the Love of Our Fathers was birthed to bring a much needed awareness to the fact that Alzheimer’s Disease bears no color, but is often times undiagnosed in the black community.
Last month, the newly we’d couple hosted a For the Love of Our Fathers brunch to honor the legacy of T.I.P.’s father, and to continue to raise money for awareness to help Tiny’s dad conquer this disease, which currently has him BEd rested according to Tiny and her mom.
We got the opportunity to hear first-hand how Tiny’s life has BEen affected from seeing her father dive deeper into this situation that has her & her mom trembling at times. While she’s a definite soldier for her mom and her dad, it’s important to see how this disease affects people from all walks life. Take a look at the video & then get involved in making sure that the proper research is funded and in tact. This too could affect your family or close circle…
