The Mixx Education of Strings Mixtape Release Party

April 26th 2011

Last night, Chicago bred, sex siren, female MC Strings hosted a mixtape release party & listening session for her latest project The Mixx Education of Strings. Strings definitely has coined her very own look, rocking one of the BIGGEST hair-do’s since Diana Ross, but after listening to lot so of joints off the mixtape, it was clear that she also has her own technique when spitting. She took me back to the start of Da Brat, with the rapid fire flow, but still has the sexiness that Lil Kim first introduced us to. The mixtape is very hood heavy, yet lots of women will love to ride to it BEcuz it’s quite boss.

nNo

April 19th 2010

As of lately, rappers from Atlanta seem to come a dime a dozen, but that certainly doesn’t mean all of them are blessed with equal talent. In fact, the ‘A’ often times receives demerit points for having “bubble gum” artists known for using cliché-driven talent to make it in today’s industry. So it’s extra refreshing [...]

Diamond: Hip-Hop's Best Friend

May 14th 2009

In science class we learned that a diamond’s evolution takes thousands of years. It begins with a living organism that dies in a natural environment. Over time forces of nature – pressure, heat, and time – act upon the organism. Soon it emerges as coal. Left over more time, the coal can be mined and [...]

Gabriel Hart: Video Vanguard

February 19th 2009

A “vanguard” is defined as the leading units in an army as well as the leading position in any movement or field. If that holds true, then Gabriel Hart is the greatest video director you never knew. Don’t believe me? Just ask him! While attending a technical school in Atlanta, he found himself at the [...]
