The 82 Year Journey of Oscar de la Renta Comes to an End

After receiving the information this morning, I really needed time to process the lost of a man that could do no wrong in the industry of fashion. Today, we mourn the lost of Legendary Designer Oscar de la Renta. We mourn only because he won’t be here to continue to wow us with amazing creations that changed the lives women fortunate enough to wear them. And now leave millions in awe of his brilliance.

For decades Oscar de la Renta would breathe life into a simple sheet of muslin and give it a new voice by adding a layer of chiffon or redefining the sweetheart neckline. Since starting the House of Oscar de la Renta in 1965, the fashion world was blessed by the vision of a man that saw women as beautiful objects that he wanted to enhance; and that he did. From the First Ladies Jacqueline Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Michele Obama to countless red carpet moments with celebrities around the world, the “Sultan of Suave” knew exactly how to embrace and present a woman’s natural beauty.

A protégé to Cristobal Balenciaga and Antonio del Castillo; designer for Arden, Lanvin, and Balmain; husband to an influential and well connected magazine editor (to whom impacted much of his career); and son to an impressive lineage of diplomats and scholars. According to Wiki, Oscar de la Renta lived one very blessed life. Oscar de la Renta

It is still hard for me to believe that I was privileged to be in the company of the creative genius during Fashion Cares Atlanta in 2007.

Rest Well Legend… And our prayers of comfort go out family and others impacted by your greatness..
