Author Anastasia Means-Dallas moves from text to tactile with play, The Present Day Ruth.  Adapted from the book, “Waiting with a Purpose-A Guide to Finding Your Boaz,” Means-Dallas has skillfully crafted a gospel play complete with dancing and live vocals.  Set to debut on the 14th Street Playhouse main stage February 8-9, 2013,   show times for The Present Day Ruth are Friday, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Present Day Ruth centers on Ruth and Boaz, (Bo), as they work diligently to set a positive example for their nieces, Grace and Faith.  Meanwhile, Ruth’s sister, Tia, is influencing the girls negatively due to her world ways. “This play deals with everyday issues that some churches dance around,” says Anastasia Means-Dallas.  The Present Day Ruth gives people an opportunity to look into their own lives and evaluate areas in need of change.  Through a series of unfortunate events and family secrets revealed, a powerful message emerges: God’s grace is sufficient for our areas of weakness.

Although this is Anastasia Means-Dallas’ first time venturing out as a playwright, she is not a stranger to writing.  She has authored two books, a book on relationships entitled, “Waiting With A Purpose-A Guide to Finding Your Boaz,” and a children’s book entitled “Fourth Street.”  She also wrote the songs for her first cd project entitled “Master Plan,” ( 2012).  “I believe in using every gift God has blessed us with, and I firmly believe that your gift will make room for you,” says Anastasia Means-Dallas.  As a former educator, she is committed to aiding other young people in reaching their full potential, by creating scholarships that will assist aspiring high school seniors in pursuing their goal of higher education.

General admission tickets for The Present Day Ruth can be purchased in person at the 14th Street Playhouse Box Office and the Woodruff Arts Center. Tickets can also be purchased online through the Woodruff Arts Center.  Tickets are $25.
