TI “No Mercy” Album Review

TI_NO_MERCY

Directly in the midst of controversy, rapper/actor Clifford “TI” Harris is all set to release his seventh studio “No Mercy” (Grand Hustle/Atlantic). TI may not BE making the traditional release week rounds, but after closely listening to “No Mercy”, I’m sure he’s tucked away in his cell smiling to himself about the quality he put into the album.

“No Mercy” (standard edition) comes with 14  hard hitting tracks, most of which include features from big name artists like Kanye West, Chris Brown, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, Rico Love, The-Dream, Scarface, Eminem, Trey Songz, Young Dro, and pop sogstress Christina Aguilera. TIP is infamous for joining forces on his albums, but this is the 1st time that he’s only riding solo on three tracks. That doesn’t event BEgin to mention the laundry list of super producers like Toomp “Big Picture”, Danja “Everything On Me”, Jim Jonsin “Lay Me Down”, Kanye West & No I.D “Welcome to the World”, and The Neptunes “Get Back Up” & “Amazing”. With such extensive production credits, it’s no surprise that this project will withstand the test of all of TIP trials and tribulations. The music actually speaks for itself. It’s classic TIP.

With TI’s judicial problems on level 10 (and hopefully on the rapid decline), lots of fans BEcame worried that “No Mercy” would BE heavily infused with the same old redemptions songs, a la “Get Back Up” with Chris Brown, but to most of our delight, TI keeps the album real party oriented, with lots of lyrics geared toward his single & searching listeners…but they didn’t coin him “The Infamous Pimp (TIP)” for nothing. TIP’s brag-a-docious lyricism has BEen both a gift and a curse, bringing him a sorted combination of uncharted success and deep barrels of tragedy. For those of us that love TIP’s gift of gab, “No Mercy” definitely won’t disappoint. He even refers to himself the second coming of PAC (Tupac Shakur); go ahead and grab the album!
