Toni Braxton & Martin Luther King III Honored at the 2010 Winter Ball

Singer/Songwriter/Actress Toni Braxton & Community Activist Martin Luther King III were honored with the Phoenix Rising Award last night at the CRG 2010 Winter Ball. The powerful event was held at the Delta Air Heritage Museum, which always provides a unique ambiance. Attendees included Mayor Kasim Reem, Dr. Yama Brown (the daughter of the Late James Brown), D.Woods (formerly of Danity Kane), Sheree Whitfield & Cynthia Bailey (RHOA), Drumma Boy, Bryan Michael Cox (co-DJ), Andrea Kelly (R.Kelly’s ex-wife), Ebony Steele (Ricky Smiley Morning Show), Chaka Zulu (DTP), Zaytoven, James Markell Dodd (The Diamond Awards), Chrystle (singer), Derek Jae (RHOA), Nina Brown, and a host of elite movers and shakers. The night held lots of quirky salsa dancing, cute finger foods, & tasty BElvedere concoctions; Ford even gave one lucky attendee an Apple iPad.

The Collective Renaissance Guild’s (CRG) mission is to infuse the arts, philanthropy and social activism into the cultural landscape of the Power Generation (formerly known as Gen X or the Hip Hop generation); while educating and providing models for subsequent generations. They are committed to cultivating community leadership, arts patronage, and philanthropy among the power brokers of our generation.
