Who Is Travis Porter?

BE Magazine was introduced to Travis Porter well BEfore the success of “All the Way Turnt Up,” and their current single, “Go Shorty Go.” Some of you may be asking, “Isn’t ‘Turnt Up,’ Roscoe Dash’s and Soulja Boy’s song?” Well, in the answer to that question lies part of the reason Travvvvy have what it takes to make it to the top of the music game.

When you first hear “Travis Porter,” you would never realize that Travis Porter is a trio, consisting of Strap the Fu-Fu, Ali, and Young Quez. When the teens in our lives started rocking, “Black Boy, White Boy” (from TPs I’m A Differenter mixtape) in early 2009, we thought Travis Porter was an actual person. We should have known by all the snickering that something was off, but as the fellas began to quickly garner much deserved attention through tracks like “Adidas,” which borrows the track made famous by  Young Money’s “Bedrock” and adds a whole new swagged-out dimension; and “Go Shorty Go,” which has completely smashed the southern radio airwaves and is headed to a city near you, it becomes ever-so-obvious that these three ATLiens are on some futuristic time-warped music that focuses on having a good time and the experiences of living life.

No gun-toting.

No trapping.

And this is why Travis Porter is a breath of fresh air in a room full of “gangsters.”

BE Entertained Magazine has been privileged to observe the grassroots grind of not only the members of Travis Porter, but of their entire support system thorough their unsigned label Porter House. Yup…you’re reading it right, UNSIGNED! So how does that happen? How does a group of super-talented and hard working fellas in the game go unsigned for this long? Our immediate guess is that they’re holding out for the biggest and best offer (see: Drake). But the truth of the matter is that whomever TP signs with we could be looking at the hottest group to come from Atlanta since Outkast.

Travis Porter has been able to make a name for themselves using exquisite street hustle, mixed with proper dosages of funny shenanigans all over town (even a city near you) caught on Youtube, Ustream, Twitter, Facebook, and just about every other social networking and hip hop news site known to man…even BE Magazine! We’ve followed the fellas around town as they’ve opened up for names such as Chris Brown and have even had Atlanta all-star Lil Jon join them on stage for a “CRUNKED UP” version of “All the Way Turnt Up” at their ‘UnBElievable” Movie Premiere and Concert a few weeks back.

That’s right, Travis Porter is EVERYWHERE, so if you’re still one of the few people asking “Who is Travis Porter,” I want you to do two things for me: Primarily, get yourself a computer with working internet…log on to BE Magazine, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, Myspace (for you prehistoric web browsers), or any other site and just search the name Travis Porter. If that doesn’t work, take yourself outside to your car and just wait…If “Go Shorty Go” isn’t played within the first half hour, you can BE the first one to alert your local radio station about Travis Porter. Better act quick cuz if you slip, you’ll BE the only one not screamin’ TRAAAAAVVVVYYYYYY!
